richard j. holzer, jr.
Mr. Holzer practices intellectual property (IP) law, emphasizing
the development and management of intellectual property
portfolios for clients of all sizes. He is a registered
patent attorney who has drafted and prosecuted hundreds
of U.S. and foreign patent applications relating to computer,
software, electronics, mechanical and business method technologies.
Mr. Holzer also prepares and prosecutes trademark applications
and counsels clients on proper use of their trademarks.
He evaluates IP portfolios, analyzes patents for offensive
and defensive purposes, provides opinions of counsel on
invalidity and noninfringement, and provides litigation
support for intellectual property issues. Mr. Holzer has:
- Represented
a leading software company in patent procurement,
portfolio analysis, and patent analysis, including handling
the patent procurement for its research lab in the United
Kingdom.
- Represented a client
defendant in a patent infringement suit involving
over two hundred defendants throughout the world.
- Prepared and prosecuted patent applications for leading
data storage, ion source, and semiconductor clients.
- Counseled
startup companies on developing intellectual property
strategies.
- Evaluated portfolios amounting to nearly a thousand patents
in due diligence for a billion dollar merger.
Mr. Holzer practiced as an electrical
and software engineer for seven years with NCR Microelectronics
(now LSI Logic) before attending law school at the University
of Michigan. He has undergraduate and graduate degrees in
electrical engineering from Purdue University. Mr. Holzer
has practiced law in Colorado at Holland & Hart, Merchant & Gould,
and Lee & Hayes. He is registered to practice in Colorado
and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S.
District Court of Colorado, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals,
and the Court of Appeals of the Federal Circuit. |
